Rapid tooling has transformed plastic injection tooling services, making injection moulding and the creation of mould tools faster and more flexible, supporting industries where speed, adaptability and quality are critical.
At Omega Plastics Group, we recognise that our customers need rapid tooling plastic services, sometimes referred to as prototype tooling and rapid prototyping, delivered to them as quickly as possible. That’s why our team strives to maintain agreed delivery targets which are supported with PPAP submission and bespoke validation.
Expert prototype tooling services
Our plastic injection tooling services include rapid tooling, which we can conduct using either soft tooling – using 3D printing or CNC machining – or hard tooling, which produces tools that can withstand multiple production cycles.
Throughout the product development phase at Omega Plastics Group, the additive manufacturing process – by which objects are produced by adding material – allows for various production processes, like rapid prototyping, to be conducted.
Constructed from high-quality injection moulding tools, like grade aluminium (DIN.4365) or P20 tool steel with hand loaded inserts, Omega Plastics Group’s rapid tooling processes allow our team to build complex pre-production or full production mould tooling in a fast and efficient manner.
Using a range of methods, from 3D printing and CNC machining to plastic injection moulding and additive manufacturing, Omega Plastics Group are committed to producing high-quality rapid prototyping tools through our rapid tooling and prototype tooling methods.
Our rapid tooling facilities
All rapid tooling and prototype tooling plastic injection tooling services are conducted in our tool room, based at Omega Plastics in Gateshead. This tool room acknowledges the diverse range of sectors we cater for, which include automotive, medical, consumer products, industrial and technical products and aerospace and defence.
Our tooling is designed and manufactured in-house, and includes Design For Manufacture (DFM), Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), machining, polishing and fitting, which ensures that we can manufacture your mould tool through efficient rapid tooling processes.
At Omega Plastics Group, we understand that volume requirements differ depending on client needs and project specifications. Our prototype tooling services are completely bespoke to fit your application, and because of our tailored approach to each project, we can develop tooling in:
- Aluminium rapid tooling, which uses only the best injection mould grades available
- H13 and Stavax steel production tooling, which includes fully hardened tool steels to enhance production volumes, with Stavax commonly used for medical applications
To ensure the best quality and on-time delivery, our toolmakers are experts who take ownership of each tool from leaving design through its various tooling activities throughout the rapid tooling process.
From hard tooling and soft tooling to 3D printing and CNC machining, as well as following the additive manufacturing process, Omega Plastics Group are experts in rapid tooling.
